Planning Your Hunting Trip:

If you're interested in hunting in Hungary, simply reach out to me by email at contact@elitehunthungary.com or call ‪+973 3400 4760‬.

I will connect you directly with a trusted team of professional hunting organizers in Hungary who specialize in handling everything from start to finish. This experienced team will take care of all arrangements including hunting packages, permits, firearms, and insurance.

You’ll be presented with a variety of hunting options to choose from, and the team will tailor the experience to your preferences. If you’re coming with family or friends, they can also help organize leisure activities for them during your stay.

Firearm Import for Non-EU Citizens:

The professional Hungarian team will provide you with an official invitation letter containing details of your firearm (type, caliber, serial number, and ammunition quantity). Using this, along with your passport or firearm license from your country, you will be able to apply for a temporary firearm import permit at your EU entry point.

By air: This must be done at the airport.

By land: After passport control, declare your firearm and secure the permit at the EU border.

This permit must remain with you during your stay and should be submitted when exiting the EU to confirm the firearm has been taken out. Failing to do so may lead to customs complications.

Firearm Import for EU Citizens:

EU citizens will need to bring their invitation letter, EU firearms passport, and valid ID or passport.

Please note: Semi-automatic shotguns are limited to three rounds. Fully automatic and semi-automatic pellet weapons are prohibited in Hungary.

Permitted Weapons for Hunting in Hungary:

In Hungary, shotguns may be used for small game. Wild boar is an exception and may also be hunted with a shotgun.

There’s no need for an import permit or weapon declaration at the border, though airport checks may still occur.

If you don’t wish to bring your own weapon (although it’s recommended), the Hungarian team can provide a suitable hunting firearm and ammunition. If you're bringing your own weapon and need ammunition, make sure to communicate the exact caliber in advance so it can be arranged.

Trophy Evaluation:

Hungarian regulations require the following trophies to be evaluated within 30 days of the hunt: red deer antlers, fallow deer, roe deer antlers, mouflon horns, and wild boar tusks over 16 cm.

If the trophy exceeds specific international point values (IP), the authorities must present it to the Ministry for potential classification as a national asset:

  • Red deer: 240 IP

  • Fallow deer: 200 IP

  • Mouflon: 220 IP

  • Roe deer: 170 IP

  • Wild boar: 130 IP

Should a trophy be designated a national treasure, a certified replica will be provided to the guest.

Final Settlement:

All costs will be handled by the Hungarian professionals, based on a shooting report that lists the game hunted, quantities, and services used. After the hunt, the guest will finalize the agreement directly with the hunting area representative.

Important Note:

I do not handle contracts, permits, payments, or legal matters. My role is to introduce you to an expert team in Hungary who do this professionally. They are specialists in organizing hunting experiences and will ensure everything is handled properly from A to Z.
